Hello, I am Hugh E Crooks Jr., Commander of the Department of California and I want to welcome you to our new and improved website. It is the doorway for information concerning one of the greatest and most dynamic Departments within the American Legion.

The American Legion is the largest and best of the Veterans organization’s within the United States, it was chartered by Congress and was established in 1919, we are committed to the ideals which we were founded upon, the four pillars. They are: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. These pillars encompass programs that benefit hundreds of thousands of lives each year including our nation’s veterans, service members and their families, ordinary citizens and our youth.

The Department of California has 495 Individual Posts who are separated into 30 Districts and 6 Areas, These levels allow the American Legion to make the maximum difference with our programs on different levels within the state.

Please take the time to navigate through our website and find what we have to offer or to find out more information about our programs and events.
