A Pictorial Story of 40 Pictures

FRIDAY

Students write information about themselves

6. Students write information about themselves on a large piece of paper: name, school, city, probable college, career field, favorite color, food, music, and their talent. They circulate and share the information. They’re amazed at how many other students share their interests.

The students gather to discuss what they’ve learned and to share how they have helped their communities

7. The first hike – about one and a half hours, with stops to learn about the type of trees, underbrush, fire fuel, edible plants and types of animals that you’d find in this particular type of forest. The students gather to discuss what they’ve learned and to share how they have helped their communities. Responses range from recycling programs to collecting food for the hungry, to putting together care packages for our military personnel.

Friday evening – the rock wall

8. Friday evening – the rock wall. Two students look at it skeptically, but…

The first one rings the bell!!

9. The first one rings the bell!!

Three students, each on a different level of difficulty, are ready to ring the bell at the same time

10. Three students, each on a different level of difficulty, are ready to ring the bell at the same time. This is the first time in many years that all students have successfully completed the climb – much to the amazement of some. Other students shout encouragement, and, when the bell is rung, they cheer and whistle – especially for the students who had to struggle a bit.
