Join The Legion

Suggested Website Guidelines

 

Posts and Districts are encouraged to set up and maintain Web pages promoting The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of The American Legion, provided they follow a few simple guidelines.

 

Those guidelines are listed below:

  • No individual should maintain a Web Homepage representing any American Legion Post, District, or Squadron without the knowledge and consent of that Post, District, or Squadron.
  • The person who publishes a Homepage on the Internet supporting and/or promoting The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion or any of their programs, is responsible for notifying the National Headquarters of The American Legion and Department of California Headquarters in writing of such page's existence and providing the National Headquarters and Department Headquarters with the page's URL.
  • When using the emblems of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and/or the Sons of The American Legion , they must be used in accordance with the publication The American Legion Name and Emblem Identification System Manual and Style Guide published by the Emblem Sales Division of The American Legion National Headquarters.
  • All home webpages related to The American Legion should contain a link to The American Legion National Headquarters Homepage http://www.legion.org and the Department of California Homepage http://www.calegion.org
  • Web pages related to The American Legion shall not contain any pornographic images, other objectionable material, or links to pages containing such material.
  • Homepages should contain information pertaining to local, state, or national programs and projects as well as links to pages that give detailed information on the programs, goals, and ideals keeping with the spirit of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and the Sons of The American Legion.
