An Outstanding Area 1 Meeting in Yuba City

A great Area meeting began with the Vice Commander Representing Area 1, Court Bradbury, calling a meeting for Adjutant Training together on Saturday morning, November 19th.

Area 1 Officer Training Module led by Vice Commander Bradbury
The nice thing about the Area 1 Officer Training Module being put together by Vice Commander Bradbury is that it not only includes updates of material available to Post Adjutants by the Department, but actually includes "Hands on" experiences by current, and most of them long standing, Post Adjutants. This personal sharing of what and how, Post Adjutants deal on a daily basis is seen as quite helpful.

With the help from such Department strengths, as Mark Foxworthy and Terry Tracy, how can such training not be successful ? However it must be noted that the strength and knowledge presented comes at a price ... the Orders of the Day need continual adjustment. So, if you have a flexible and adept Area Commander, the meeting moves along, as it should ... what needs to be covered, is covered.

A long meeting, where lots of new material is presented, makes the evening dinner and adult refreshments all the more enjoyable. Below, Jack Pressey tries to tell everyone he uses all that was covered during the day currently in his work, as Finance Officer and Adjutant.

Ken Vogele seems to have found the ladies important matters more interesting than some of the others

The ladies really are not interested, and have their own important matters to share with each other. Ken Vogele seems to have found the ladies important matters more interesting than some of the others.

Colonel Lawrence L. Wells
Those that attended the Area 1 meeting, and also attended the Saturday night dinner were treated to a really outstanding presentation by Colonel (Brigadier General Select) Lawrence L. Wells, Commander 9th Reconnaissance Wing, Beale Air Force Base. Colonel Wells did a superb job of easily presenting the complex factors involved in the base closure/realignment aspects affecting the Air Force, and Beale Air Force Base specifically. Home of the "Black Bird", the four decade old super secret SR-71 spy plane, Colonel Wells presented the major efforts he has undertaken to add to the overall mission of Beale AFB, thus making the position of the base more secure for the area. A truly interesting and exceptional presentation.

Area 1 Vice Commander Court Bradbury and District 2 Commander Glenn Mayer with Colonel Wells
Many of those present also thought the presentation by Colonel Wells was excellent, as they rushed forward to have a picture taken with the Colonel. First in line was Area 1 Vice Commander Court Bradbury and District 2 Commander Glenn Mayer.

Others rushed first to the adult beverage stand hosted by Post 705.

Officers of Area 1 met early Sunday morning to complete the Area 1 meeting

After a late Saturday "Night out with the boys" (Is that politically correct today ?), the Officers of Area 1 met early Sunday morning to complete the Area 1 meeting.

Jack Pressey got to discusses the finances of Area 1

Formal officer reports were first on the agenda, and Jack Pressey got to discusses the finances of Area 1, a topic that always catches peoples attention.

Well most people’s attention anyway.

Les Aldan took the opportunity to discuss in more detail, with Joe Sordillo

For others...

The beautiful weather allowed for an opportunity to step outside and enjoy the fresh air. Les Alden took the opportunity to discuss in more detail, with Joe Sordillo, some of the material presented at the meeting.

Vice Commander Bradbury did not forget to call up Post 705 Commander John DeBeaux and thank him for the superb efforts by he and his Post, in hosting the 2nd Area 1 Meeting.

Vice Commander Bradbury did not forget to call up Post 705 Commander John DeBeaux

Not only were the facilities excellent, but the Saturday night dinner and presentation by Colonel Wells was very well received.

Thank you Commander John DeBeaux and thank you Post 705.
