Area 1 - Third Meeting, Rio Linda
The third quarter has ended, and Area 1 Vice Commander Court Bradbury held his 3rd Area 1 meeting, February 11th, at Sixth District's, Sacramento, Post 521. Post 521 is an expansive post filled with friendly good natured veterans, who gladly welcomed the Area 1 Vice Commander, and quickly invited him into their favorite room.

After the friendly greeting, the Vice Commander got serious. Membership was one of the main themes of this Area 1 meeting, calling for the big guns. Department Membership Director Mark Foxworthy present statistics on membership and offered pointers on improving Post management of membership records and reporting. |

The administration of membership records made for an easy transition into the general administration of Post activities The Area 1 Vice Commander is not one to miss a cue, and he stepped forward and presented a comprehensive overview of Post administrative affairs, to an ever enthusiastic audience. |

The day was such a smashing success, that Mark Foxworthy presented the Area 1 Vice Commander with a surprise gift, a T-shirt bearing a unique design.
Building on a successful day, the Area 1 meeting attendees gathered for food and nourishment. As usual, District 31 provided a large turnout and filled an entire table, with bright, smiling faces. Department Commander Wayne Parrish provided a few good words about Area 1 and the goals of the Department. The Area 1 Vice Commander brought smiles to everyone's face with his comments on the current state of affairs. |

An enjoyable Saturday workshop followed by a pleasant evening dinner would normally be a hard act to follow. However, such is not the case in Area 1. For Sunday morning Area 1 Legionnaires arrived bright and early to "Get the best seats", or was that "To get 1st pick of the donuts" ? |

A North State biker presented one of Area 1 Vice Commander Bradbury's ideas concerning a shrinking Legion membership ... incorporating outside groups for support, and assistance, such as biker groups, while Floyd Martin presented "A view from National". |

Ken Kruger, whose 6th District Post hosted the 3rd Quarter Area 1 Meeting, made a few closing comments.

Have you ever notice how when one person bends the rules by ignoring the "Orders of the Day", the stage is then set for the multitude to inundate the platform. Such was the circumstances that evolved, for a multitude of those running for Department positions flooded the microphone.

After all is said and done, there is always time for closing photographs, no matter how insistent the Department Commander may be about getting to the airport, in order to avoid missing his flight.

It was a good Area 1 meeting, with a lot covered in a very short time. Thank you Post 521, thank you 6th District.
