Area 1 Picnic at Yountville Veterans Home |
Area 1 held its traditional picnic at the Yountville Veterans Home on July 31st. This really is an excellent central location where the Posts within Area 1 (Districts 1-6 & 31) can conveniently meet. |

This year saw increased participation from all Posts, though District 31 seemed to be slightly better represented.
At Left District 31 Commander Bob Richards discusses the attendance with past District Commanders Earl Chinnock and Paul McGinnis ... ever note how birds of a feather seem to flock ?

On the other hand, District 5 might put up an argument concerning the District with the most number of members in attendance.
At right, you will see that Area 1 Adjutant, and 5th District member, Jack Presey, as usual, was center stage and drawing a crowd with his overall pleasant disposition.

One of the real pluses to the Yountville picnic, for Area 1 members, is the opportunity to see a little baseball, with the . . .
California American Legion State Championships ! |

This year, the Area 1 Vice Commander Court Bradbury had the distinction of being asked to toss out the 1st pitch in the Saturday thriller that found the Merced Volunteers hold on to a 1 run lead in their journey to the State Championship.

It doesn't end there!
Not only was Vice Commander Court Bradbury asked to toss the 1st pitch, but to catch the 1st pitch.
Does it get any better ?
If you think this an amazing feat, Court says, "Keep an eye on Area 1 this year." |
