Mr. Yates was born on November 8, 1928 in Aloha, Louisiana to Finis and Nellis Marcum Yates. and died Monday, July 30, 2007 at Lompoc Hospital. He retired from the United States Air Force at Vandenberg in 1993 with over 22 years of service. Jim later worked for Martin Marietta Corp. and retired from their in 1994. He was a member of American Legion Post 211 and the Moose Lodge 1036.
Survivors include his daughters, Jane Ogden and Mary Ann Yates; sons, Ray Yates, Alvin Yates and Brian Yates; two sisters, one brother, numerous grandchildren, and loving companion and caregiver for 15 years, Sandra DeMars.
Memorial services for James P. Yates, 78, of Lompoc, will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Rev. Robert D. Robison of North Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Montgomery, Louisiana.

Robert Zolensky of Suisun City passed away Jan. 16, 2007, at 54. In addition to his beloved wife of 34 years, Nanette, he is survived by his son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Jillian; grandson, Kyle Robert Zolensky of Reno, Nev.; youngest brother, Jim, of Cadiz, Ohio; mother-in-law, Nancy Britt of Fairfield; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Stanley.
Bob was born in Pennsylvania and was an avid Steelers fan his entire life. He also enjoyed pinochle, movies, crossword puzzles and arguing politics. He was a Vietnam-era veteran and sustained a service-connected disability while serving in the Air Force.
Bob worked for the Mare Island Naval Shipyard and later worked for the state Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and had served as a commander. He was also a member of the American Legion, both in Vacaville and in Brownsville, Pa. He lived in Suisun City 31 years.
Robert was a wonderful father and husband and a kind and compassionate friend. He was taken from us much too soon and is lovingly and sadly missed by his wife, Nanette, his family and his faithful dog, Sara.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 20-21, 2007, with a rosary at 6 p.m. Sunday, both at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.

Norman Eugene Zandona, age 75, passed away Monday, November 6, 2006. Norman was born on July 27, 1931 in Hanford, CA and was a resident of Tracy for 34 years. He was a US Army Corporal Veteran in Korea from 1952-1954. Mr. Zandona graduated from Hanford High School, and then went on to Reedley and San Joaquin Delta College.
He served in the Korean War for 2 years. He was employed for 18 years with JI Case Tractor Co. in Hanford and then spent 23 years with the US Bureau of Reclamation in Tracy. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 0172, VFW Post 1537 and The National Rifle Assn..
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norberto and Virginia Zandona and sister, Elsie Marzorini. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Zandona; his children, John (Kris) Zandona, Carol Zandona all of Tracy; siblings, Eleanor (Leonard) Madruga of Hanford; grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Yrigoyen, Zachary Zandona, Kean Zandona all of Tracy, Annette Yrigoyen of Sacramento and Kyle Starr of Irvine; great grandchildren, Seth McDonald, Ashley Yrigoyen both of Tracy and Emily Yrigoyen of Manteca. Also survived by 7 nieces and nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews.
Rosary and Mass will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave.. Burial will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road, in Gustine.

AT 6:37 pm this date (7/9/06), I received a telephone call from Art Zuhlke, Los Angeles Sheriff Star Post 309. Art informed me that his wife, Joyce Zuhlke, of over 60 years passed away at 20 minutes to 6:00 pm peacefully. He will send a notice later about a memorial to celebrate her life after it has been arranged. The family of Joyce Zuhlke would like to invite her many friends to a "Celebration of Her Life" on Friday, July 28th, 2006 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Location: Maggie's Pub* in Santa Fe Springs. Please be prompt for the short religious service at 12 Noon, followed by a buffet lunch. During lunch, those who would like to say a few words on Joyce’s behalf are welcomed.
