I received word this evening that we lost one of our Post 862 comrades . . . Dick Urquhart . . .
A proud Marine . . . .currently our Adjutant . . . he has also served as 3rd Vice Commander . . . Dick was highly instrumental in the success of our Boys State program.
Dick was undergoing heart bypass surgery at Saddleback Memorial this same Tuesday morning that I was undergoing gastric bypass surgery at South Coast Medical Center. My surgery was successful and I was home by Friday. Not the same for Dick . . . complications arose and he was taken to ICU . . . Dick lost the battle around 7:30 PM Sunday evening.
Services for Dick will be at 10 AM Monday morning August 9th . . . O'Connor's Mortuary Chapel on Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills.
Post 862 Chaplain, Pastor Tom Tyree, will be officiating and I will be delivering a eulogy. Members of Post 862 that are able to attend . . . we are wearing our new uniform shirts with Legion ties and caps.
Legionnaires from other local posts, we ask that you wear your post uniform and for those of you without a "post uniform" please wear your Legion cap.
These are the only details I have at this time . . . as I gain new information I will quickly pass it along.
