21st District Newspaper Post Reports

Moreno Valley Post 574 has been busy with many events
In December of last year, Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley presented the Post with a check for $1800.00, for Post improvements. With this generous donation, we were able to replace a badly worn exit door, and replace an inefficient freezer. In addition; the freezer purchase was made possible by the generous discount of Mr. Scott Taylor of Taylor Appliances. These repair/replacements have saved us a considerable amount of money in utilities. This has enabled us to contribute more to worthy causes. Our thanks to Supervisor Ashley and Mr. Taylor for making this possible!. Also, we have had the honor of recognizing a local veteran through “Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, which is partnered through the American Legion. This program distributes $500,000 in grants to service members who have a 30 percent or higher disability rating as a result of injuries sustained while serving in the theaters of operations of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) or operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). On March 1st, 2008, a check in the amount of $500.00, and a paid for Legion membership was presented to Mr. Ronald Kelly, of Moreno Valley. After presentation, A U.S. flag, which was flown over the U.S. Capital, was presented to us from Supervisor Marion Ashley. Present were district 21 Commander Pete Ramos, Jr. Past commander Rees Lloyd , Assistant Adjutant Donna Griggs, and Executive Committee West, Bob Keene.  Our post offers a variety of activities, Karaoke every third Saturday, Breakfast or Steak dinners every other month hosted by the Sons of the American Legion. We have a website, movalpost574.org which will list upcoming events. Please come and visit us, “The friendliest Post in town”.
