New Procedure to Avert Post Cancellations

For the past several years, the National organization has routinely refused to recognize cancellation of posts at its National Executive Committee Meeting. To remedy any future confusion by those members directly affected, we have developed a new procedure:

  1. When a post is struggling to survive, the Post Commander will notify his/her District Commander who will in turn activate the membership Team which includes the District First Vice Commander, the Area Membership Chairman and the New Post Committee to come to the post’s assistance.

  2. After completing a thorough evaluation of the post’s situation and it has been determined that assistance from National is appropriate, a formal request shall be made. National has demonstrated their successful pro-active involvement in post revitalizations and has the necessary resources, expertise and staff support at their disposal.

  3. If revitalization efforts fail and probation status can not be averted, the post will be placed on probation by the District Commander at the next Department Executive Committee Meeting. The team has 90 days to revitalize the post or request further consideration from the D.E.C.
