Commanders Message Earlier last month, I had the pleasure of meeting the National Commander of The American Legion, Clarence E. Hill, during his visit to California. His remarks to those Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and SAL in attendance at a luncheon hosted by Newport Harbor Post 291 included accolades for what the California Legion Family does. Commander Hill, who is also an SAL member, acknowledged the Sons’ achievements in support of Children & Youth programs. As the leader for the nation’s largest veterans service organization, Commander Hill has travelled around the world and walked the halls of Congress in support of our programs. Yet he made it clear that “the image of The American Legion is not demonstrated at the National, Department, Area, or District levels. Our image is cast in our local communities by our Posts”.....click for more Contact Commander Paul E. Mesmer Phone: 714-270-3623 E-mail: pmesmer3@verizon.net |
