2007 Auxiliary Alaskan Cruise

From Mike Chinnock
Historian to Past Area 1 Vice Commander

As the Historian for the Area 1 Vice Commander, Robert Canclini, I sometimes have to travel considerable distances in order to attend a function. However, none were so far, far away, as the recent Department excursion to Alaska along the inland passage. This trip was a support trip for the Department Auxiliary. Post 169, District 31, Area 1 Unit President Jean McGinnis decided to support the Department. by going on this week long cruise. She told me that as I was the Area 1 Historian, it was proper to go and capture some fine pictures of the event, since she, an Area 1 member, was involved. Her logic worked.

If you thought about going on this cruise but let it slip by, you missed a great adventure for at about $100 a day for room, board and entertainment. A great vacation in other words. In addition, there was good comradeship of those that comprise the American Legion family in California on board.
