The Sun Princess departed Seattle, Sunday, May 13, at 4 pm. The first stop would be Ketchikan, Alaska. Ketchikan is a wonderful small fishing town, on an island. It once boasted of being the biggest fishing port in the world. Although those days are gone, there is still a considerable fishing fleet present, and the Native American village there had a marvelous, nationally known, totem pole craftsman present. One of the residents told me that the typical rainfall was 160 inches a year. It rained 240 days out of the year and we must be blessed, for we brought sunshine with us. I guess it just a gift we Californian's take with us. Those lucky Ketchikan residents.
